Following the successful launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Electronics has extended the handset’s range through a new collection of colours for its human-centric smartphone. The Galaxy S III boasts an organic appearance, with gently curved lines and clean features which are accentuated by these latest colour options

Galaxy S III's nature-inspired design and intuitive ease-of-use in one stylish, compact smartphone

Samsung Mobile UK has today unveiled the Galaxy S III Mini, a compact version of the flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. The Galaxy S III Mini brings the high performance, intuitive ease-of-use and nature-inspired design of the Galaxy S III to an elegant, compact smartphone with a 4-inch screen.

Simon Stanford, Vice President, Telecommunications & Networks Division, Samsung UK and Ireland said: "The award winning Galaxy S III has been extremely well received globally since it launched earlier this year so we are thrilled to be able to offer our customers the same revolutionary design, intuitive usability and intelligence in a mini version. We will continue to develop smartphones to cater for a variety of customer needs and this latest release demonstrates our ongoing commitment to offering our customers more choice at every price point."

The Galaxy S III Mini is powered by Android™ 4.1 (Jelly Bean), the latest version of the world's most popular smartphone operating system, benefitting from fast, fluid and smooth graphics along with a new Google Search™ experience featuring Google Now™.

Stylish and compact, the Galaxy S III Mini shares the Galaxy S III's breakthrough design and simple elegance. Its ultra-minimal curved frame creates a rich natural feel, which is also reflected by its nature-inspired home screen, wallpapers and ringtones. A beautiful 4-inch Super AMOLED display offers a generous viewing experience that means multimedia and Web content can be viewed in brilliant colour and clarity. The compact size of the Galaxy S III Mini offers customers a comfortable grip and a convenient one-hand operation.

The Galaxy S III Mini is packed with intelligent technology designed to make interacting with the phone incredibly natural and intuitive. S Voice, Samsung's advanced natural language recognition software, means your voice can be used to unlock the phone with simple customised commands. Your voice can also play a favourite song, turn the volume up or down, organise your daily schedule, or automatically launch the camera and start taking photos.

The Galaxy S III Mini also understands human gestures to make using the phone easier and more natural. With Smart Stay, the phone's camera tracks a person's eyes and keeps the screen lit as long as they are looking at it. When reading a text message from a friend or family member, Direct Call allows customers to automatically call that person simply from the motion of lifting the phone to their ear; and Smart Alert conveniently alerts people to missed calls or messages as soon as the phone is picked up.

Content sharing is easy and fast on the Galaxy S III Mini. Its S Beam feature allows a 10MB music file to be shared in just two seconds by simply tapping on another S Beam-enabled device, such as the Galaxy S III or Galaxy Note II, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. The Buddy Photo Share function also allows photos to be easily and simultaneously shared with friends pictured in an image directly from the camera or the photo gallery.

Samsung unveils world's largest commercialised OLED TV for the ultimate in picture qualityon Jan 11, 2012

CES Best of Innovations Award Honouree features elegant design, dual-core processor and Smart Interaction technology

Today at CES, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the UK’s number one TV brand with the most awarded TV range1 today unveiled the world’s largest commercialised OLED TV, a masterpiece that will be acclaimed by home entertainment and design enthusiasts alike. The 55-inch OLED will be produced from a single pane of glass and uses Samsung’s Super OLED technology for the ultimate in picture quality.

Super OLED technology eliminates the need for a colour filter as the OLED pixel unit consists of RGB sub-pixels, each emitting its own light. The technology is also able to differentiate varying degrees of blacks and shadows, so that users can enjoy unparalleled detail even in the darkest of scenes.

Robert King, head of Consumer Electronics, Samsung UK and Ireland, said: “Samsung has a history of creating innovative OLED products such as mobile phones, digital cameras and tablet PCs. Today, we are proud to extend our OLED leadership to the TV category, with this spectacular 55-inch Super OLED. By incorporating true-to-life picture quality, Smart Interaction, Samsung Apps, 3D functionality and multitasking into an amazingly thin form factor, Samsung is delivering the TV of tomorrow, today.”

The Samsung Super OLED TV, a Best of Innovations Award Honouree at CES 2012, will be on display at the 2012 International CES, booth #12004, in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Centre (LVCC) from January 10th – 13th, 2012. It will be available commercially worldwide this year.

Samsung Apps becomes preferred SMART TV platform for consumers, content providers and developers

At CES 2012 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, the UK’s number one TV brand with the most awarded TV range, announces new milestones for its Smart TV platform, Samsung Apps, as well as new apps and services that deliver even richer entertainment options for the largest screen in the home.

With more than 1400 apps available and average daily downloads of 50000 worldwide, Samsung Apps has become the Smart TV platform of choice for application developers and premium content brands.

Consumers have increasingly turned to their TVs for streaming video content, as well as for apps that offer interactive and customised content that cater for their passion for music, sports, fitness, social networking or news.

Globally Samsung expects to hit 15 million app downloads by January 2012, a 50 per cent increase from its previous milestone of 10 million, set in October 2011.

Robert King, Head of Consumer Electronics at Samsung UK, said, “With over 80% of consumers interested in Smart TV, there is a growing need to extend the availability of content and apps to other screens in the home. Samsung’s connected ecosystem, including Smart TV’s, Smartphones, Smart Cameras and even Smart Appliances can meet this need, while our platform has evolved dramatically in 2012 to further enhance the experience.”

Samsung has redesigned its Smart Hub user interface to offer a much more intuitive experience. The new Smart Hub is in full HD and is streamlined to offer users a more intuitive way to search and discover content via Smart Interactions. Consumers can navigate the interface using Voice Control, Motion Control and Face Recognition for a seamless experience never before available on a TV.
The new Smart Hub also offers true multi-tasking capabilities – users can switch between web pages thanks to a new tabbed web browser, toggle between apps and download multiple apps simultaneously.

In addition, Samsung’s new AllShare Play allows content to be shared across DLNA-certified devices. AllShare Play offers web storage so users can upload and share multimedia content between devices such as TVs, cameras, smartphones, laptops and PCs, regardless of where they are in the world.

To help bring the family back together in the living room, Samsung is launching several first-of-its-kind signature services that redefine what the TV can do for consumers.

Samsung’s Family Story allows families to share content through cloud-based storage. Family members can share photos, create slide shows, post memos and schedule events. They can access this content in and outside the home through their smartphones, tablets, PCs and Samsung Smart TVs. Device compatibility will also be expanded to include LCD refrigerators and digital cameras in the future. Family members can also share photos in real-time by pushing photos to each member's TV screen through a ‘live chat’ feature, so keeping in touch with families has become much easier no matter where loved ones are.

Fitness helps users track their fitness progress through indoor and outdoor activities in a more organised way. In addition to a diverse range of fitness content, users can connect their Samsung smartphone to their Smart TV using a mobile fitness app. They can also connect a Withings WiFi scale to their Samsung Smart TVs to help them track and monitor their weight progress. With selected apps, the TV’s built-in camera will create a virtual mirror so users they can check their exercise poses against the instructor.

Families can also access a variety of educational video-on-demand content through Kids, which includes a feature where parents can reward their children with stickers and monitor their TV time.
